The JAG

The JAG is a Jaguar 21, which Sam and I bought in 2012. She was in a very bad state, having been stranded on a beach and then neglected for several years after some half hearted attempts were started to repair the extensive damage to the port side. We found her in Burntisland, just north of Edinburgh and towed her to Greenock, where she is still in the process of being rebuilt

The boat we first saw on a grey overcast day in Scotland filled us with happy anticipation, she looked as if she would sail well and was the perfect size for us, small enough to tow behind a normal car but big enough to spend a week or so sailing around. We wanted to have her but needed to look at her in more depth to see what secrets she held.

The damage she had occured during the fatal stranding was extensive, reaching from just in front of the cockpit right into the bow on the port side. The repairs didn't look good; they were not bonded properly, however as we would grind this off anyway it didn't really matter.

Due to the damage we were able to get the price down and after agreeing a price, we suddenely had a boat. We didn't wait long to get her onto a trailer and get her ready to be transported to Greenock, a task that took us a whole day; lifting a boat without a crane is no joke!

Once she was inside the garage the real work could start.

Sam and I have a dedicated webiste and Facebook page for the JAG, check it out here:
