Boat Projects

This page is dedicated to the boat projects I have been involved in, ranging from model boats I have designed and built to work I have done on big boats. To see the page fro each project click on the picture.
The JAG

The JAG is a Jaguar 21 which my good friend Sam and I bough in 2012 and together we are restoring her to her former glory.

This is an interesting project as the port side obtained a lot of damage due to being stranded on a beach and has required major GRP works to rejoin the deck to the hull and get her into her original state.

Fritha

Fritha is a Victoire 822, we bought her in 2000 and have had many enjoyable days and weeks on her. She was built in 1975 and needs constant attention to keep her going. She is in a very good state for her age but always has a job that needs to be done. The most recent jobs are quite major though and can be seen here.

Dolfin

Dolfin is built to RG 65 classification and is an altered set of plans I obtained from the internet. The construction I chose was balsa on plywood frames coated with thin glass cloth. For information on the design, build and sailing click the picture.

Strath 70

As the name suggests, this boat is a Strathclyde 70 class yacht. Designed as part of a university project, she was originally machined out of close cell foam, fillered and painted to achieve a smooth hull. After the project I took her home, made a mold out of the hull and produced the yacht shown to the left. With a long keel and twin rudders, I have sailed her in winds up to 7 Bft with the normal sails with great success. As I now have a mold I can produce many more variants of this yacht!

Sala

Sala is my brother's idea and creation and could be seen as my first "contract". He sent me a rough 3d CAD model of the hull and cabin, from which I created a more accurate 3d model using Rhino. The plan is to import the model in Maxsurf to do stability checks as well as create a detailed 3d model of the yacht from which plans can be drawn up.
